SAMA sponsors Khartoum Dental Teaching Hospital (KDTH) Anesthesiologist to attend specialized course in Madrid, Spain.

Dr. Sahar graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Ahfad University in 2002 & completed Anesthesiology specialization in Sudan in 2012. She was recently appointed by the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Khartoum to become KDTH‘s first Anesthesiologist on staff.

As part of its efforts to support the training and professional development of Khartoum Dental Teaching Hospital Staff, SAMA has sponsored Dr. Sahar Musaab Elhadi Babiker to attend the 2014 Pediatric Flexible Bronchoscopy Course held in Madrid, Spain from November 18th to 22nd, 2014. This was at the recommendation of the Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, University of Khartoum.

About the Course
  • Jointly organized by faculty from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Ohio, USA & Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre in Madrid, Spain.
  • This is an intensive, hands-on, comprehensive introduction to pediatric bronchology and bronchoscopy (focus on flexible instruments, but exposure to and some hands-on experience with rigid instruments, also…).
  • The course involves lectures, demonstrations, hands-on experience in very small groups with animate and inanimate models with experienced instructors, video labs, and much opportunity for interaction with faculty.
  • Lecture topics cover endoscopic anatomy, indications/contraindications, basic scope driving, anesthesia/airway management/physiology, endoscopic techniques including advanced techniques such as laser and balloon dilation, BAL – performance and interpretation, complications, common findings in the upper and lower airways, care and feeding of instruments, comparison of rigid and flexible instruments and the indications for concurrent use, bronchoscopy in special patient populations (ICU, NICU), and the organization and operation of a bronchoscopy program.
