A glimmer of hope in a sea of darkness

After the outbreak of civil war in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, hospital services have reached a near standstill. A private hospital stands alone as the last resort for patients seeking medical care in a densely populated area of the city. It is estimated that the population it serves exceeds half a million. The hospital continues to provide Trauma, Emergency, Dialysis, and Obstetric care, as well as more advanced care for critically ill patients, such as High Dependency Unit (HDU) and assisted ventilation (CPAP).

In one week, the hospital received 32 multiple injured patients, mostly gunshot wounds. Since the war broke out on April 15th, 2023, this private hospital decided to serve all patients regardless of their ability to pay. As a result, 55 patients were unable to pay the hospital bill and the amount due reached SDG 26,232,650 (~$55,447). If these bills are not paid, this private hospital will close.

To keep this hospital open, SAMA is raising funds to cover its deficit, so it can continue to serve all patients regardless of their ability to pay. Your donation keeps this glimmer of light to continue to shine in a sea of darkness.
